Suryakumar Yadav smashed his third T20 International Century
Suryakumar Yadav smashed his third T20 International Century as he lit up the Rajkot night sky in the series decider against Sri Lanka on Saturday. Suryakumar hit an unbeaten 112 off 51 balls. Coming in at no.4 Surya raced to the three-figure mark off just 45 balls with the help of 6 fours and 8 sixes. With the scintillating effort, Surya became the first player to hit three T20I centuries outside the opening slot. Surya is now also the second fastest centurion for India behind Rohit Sharma, who scored a 35-ball ton back in 2017 against Sri Lanka in Indore.
Batting first, India lost Ishan Kishan (1) early but the likes of Shubman Gill (46), Rahul Tripathi (35), and Suryakumar propped up the hosts with a barrage of big hits at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium. Tripathi’s runs came off just 16 balls and included five fours and two sixes. But the evening truly belonged to Suryakumar, who smashed seven fours and nine sixes.
Only Indian captain Rohit Sharma is ahead of Suryakumar in scoring a century in T20 international cricket. Rohit has scored four centuries in T20 for India and is the batsman with the most centuries in international T20 cricket. Whereas, Suryakumar Yadav has done this feat thrice.
